  Beautiful area, but not much there in the way of shopping or restaurants. Only one hotel, and two grocery stores. Living accommodations are very old, my apartment has been up graded, but for looks only, with the cheapest appliance's you can buy, and where very poorly constructed as they where meant for the mining industry years ago. Very little, if any at all, insulation in the walls or ceiling, and very cheap windows, so in the winter, your hydro bill is very high, ( you pay your own hydro) over and above your rent, plus a parking fee. I feel, altogether' it's over priced, considering there's not much in Elliot Lake, and the majority of buildings heat with electric baseboard heaters, both apts. and homes, that are also very dry heat so then you'll need a humidifier, more hydro used. There are a lot of get together's in the building I'm in, along with pot luck dinners, bingo games, and so on, everyone is very friendly, and look out for one another, the city transit stops at the front door, and there are buggies right there to take your groceries to your apt. They also have a wash bay, if you want to clean your car of all the bugs you'll gather. If you love the outdoors, and nature, it's a great place to be, lots of fishing and hunting along with the bugs. The new mall has never materialized, still thinking and talking about it I guess, but then, so I understand, it will only house a library and a grocery store, not much else. The closest big box stores are about a two hour drive away in either direction. Your living out in the wilderness, and I get the feeling I'm cut off from the rest of the world.
