  The drains gurgle and churn sending sulphur smells into the units at times. I have asked other tenants if they hear the same noise and smell the same odour and they said yes. Our worry is that the sewers may overflow. We could not find an insurance Company to insure us for above ground water damage.

  There is a roadway about 6-8 feet from my apartment and a parking lot just beyond the roadway. There are vehicles, including transit buses and a ride-on mower that frequent the roadway and expel extremely strong emissions into this apartment (even when all windows are closed and locked). The fact that emissions are seeping into this apartment when all windows and doors are shut tightly and locked suggests the windows are not sealed.

  The master bedroom is uninhabitable due to the smell of mould and mildew emanating from the carpet. We suspect a leak stemming from an outer wall. There is a trench that has been dug right outside the master bedroom which we assume is to divert the path of water. Plants were added yesterday- we presume to re-direct excess moisture. (When we moved in the smell was masked by the smell of fresh paint). A dehumidifier placed in the room by the Superintendent has been ineffective and therefore was returned on Aug. 9/17.

  We have also been subjected to an odour similar to mothballs emanating from the bathroom vent. When the superintendent was asked about the odour he shrugged and said that all the vents in the units are connected.

  We are forced to move because our health is far too important. We have spent thousands to move here and are spending thousands to move again. We have been here for less than 60 days. ELRL should not be renting apartments like this. In our opinion, it shows a tremendous lack of care.

  We specifically requested a non-smoking building. Smoke fills the master bedroom from above. The Superintendent denies the smell of smoke stating the occupant above is a man who had a stroke. Tenants in the building told us this is not true, that the occupant above is a woman who is a heavy smoker. Tenants have told us that former tenants have complained.

  We have been unable to escape the smell of cigarette smoke coming from above and next door. It is like they are sitting on the sofa right next to us and blowing smoke in our faces. The smell of marijuana is also inescapable. It is tough enough at the age of ninety + years to breathe without being physically assaulted by these toxins. We have suffered from swollen or stinging tongues/lips, sinus problems, coughing fits and congestion since we arrived here.

  We have found water on the living room floor by an outer wall twice after heavy rainfalls. Another trench outside has been dug. We assume this too is to divert water. Plants were added yesterday to that area. We believe they have been added to wick moisture away from the units.
